The connection between physical activity and anxiety is known to be multi-factorial.  Several hypotheses have been recommended to elaborate in lessening anxiety and the benefits of regular exercise that come with it.

People who engage more in exercise, it enhances their overall wellbeing that leads to positivity for their mental health. Boosting physical activity has been known to develop one’s mood, improve energy levels, and elevate sleep quality.

There are many reasons why physical activity is highly recommended for psychological wellbeing.

  • Exercise reduces stress hormones like cortisol. Another thing is it also enhances endorphins that make your body feel good and lift your mood with natural support.

  • Physical activities give you a distraction from negative emotions. This allows your mind to set aside all your problems and give you a redirection for awhile.

  • Exercises support one’s confidence. This helps in losing weight, tone your body, and sustain a healthy glow. It lets you feel a delicate and important boost in your mood especially when you check yourself out in the mirror and flatter yourself with what you’re wearing. This also strengthens your positive aura.

  • Exercises are also considered as an excellent source of social support. This gains social support that is properly documented and several physical activities can serve as social activities as well. An example would be joining exercise classes such as yoga or pilates which can be your stress relief outlet.

The value of having better physical health can lead to better mental health. Having too much stress can result in illness so improving your overall mental health and durability through exercises can save you from all the health trouble in the long run.

Lastly, exercise can give protection against stress. Physical activity may be connected to lower physiological reactivity toward stress. Those who exert more exercise may become less distressed. This can also provide some immunity toward future stress that can even help in managing current stress.
