You get full attention, you make your own schedule, and you don’t need to explain to multiple people why you skipped a day last week. However, many people enjoy and even prefer group classes. One of the hardest things about working out alone is the sense of isolation. Many people find it a lot easier to stick with a routine when they are part of a group of like-minded friends who are all in it together. Group workout classes offer community, mutual goals, and a support system that provides additional motivation.

Working out with other people is also a great way to learn different exercise tips and focus on improving your technique. Group Pilates courses create a sense of community you don’t get when exercising alone.

Working one-on-one with a trainer isn't always the most cost-effective strategy for losing weight.
