Superfoods for Super Weight Loss

Known for their high nutritional value and health benefits, superfoods are essential for rapid weight loss. Besides being delicious, they can also help us feel full and give us clean sustained energy. Incorporate these five superfoods into your daily regimen and watch the pounds melt off.

1. Match green tea  

Tea is the second most popular drink worldwide and for good reason. Matcha green tea is particularly high in natural antioxidants, catechin polyphenols, specifically EGCG. Alongside many antibacterial and neuroprotective effects, EGCG can increase fat burning and works as a natural appetite suppressant. More recent human studies have shown that green tea consumption reduces body fat by increasing the rate at which food is broken down in a human’s body, as well as fat oxidation. It also effectively reduces blood glucose levels and lowers blood pressure and has been connected to the prevention of different types of cancer and diseases. 

2. Yogurt  

Yogurt is a nutrient-dense food that is a rich source of protein, calcium, magnesium and probiotics. Besides strengthening the immune system and promoting heart and digestive health, yogurt has also been linked to weight reduction. Studies show that obese adults who consumed fat-free yogurt lost almost 80% more belly fat than non-yogurt eaters. Findings suggest that increased intake of yogurt reduces the consumption of high-calorie, unhealthy foods as the probiotics in yogurt causes changes in stomach bacteria flora.

3. Blueberries  

Blueberries possess strong antioxidant properties and contain compounds that prevent heart conditions, improve brain function, and boost immunity. The anthocyanins from blueberries play an important role in boosting weight loss. Tested in mice with high-fat diet, the consumption of blueberry leaf extract reduced their abdominal fat, lowered their cholesterol and brought down their overall body weight more than 20%. Blueberries also possess potent anti-inflammatory characteristics as well as ingredients that reinforce and preserve blood vessels.

4. Chili Peppers  

Chili peppers contain capsaicin, a compound that helps with managing obesity and boosting weight loss. It also acts as an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties. Capsaicin increases the metabolic rate of the body, lowers glucose levels and increases the overall energy expenditure in the body. Chili peppers also contain vital nutrients like vitamin C, E, iron, calcium and zinc.

5. Hemp Seeds

They have the perfect balance of omega 3 to omega 6 ratio and are an excellent source of fiber, minerals, and vitamins. They have a nutty flavor and can be used as a topping on salads or tossed into a smoothie as a thickener.

Consuming these five superfoods will help you with your weight loss efforts and luckily, are all delicious and conveniently found at health food stores. Consider adding at least one of these foods per meal and enjoy the changes in the way you look and feel.
